Leading Through the Storm: Finding Peace When You Don't Have All the Answers

As leaders, we often believe it's our responsibility to have all the answers.

We feel the pressure to fix every problem, protect our families, grow our businesses, and somehow hold everything together along the way. The problem is that the harder we try to carry it all, the heavier the burden becomes.

On Sunday, I woke up carrying some of that weight. My mind was already racing before my feet even hit the floor. I was thinking about my family, the future, and what it takes to grow a new business. Like many entrepreneurs, I was carrying the pressure of responsibilities, decisions, and uncertainty, wondering if I was doing enough and if everything was going to work out.

That morning, I headed to church. As the message was being shared, it felt like he was speaking directly to me. Have you ever had one of those moments where you know the message is being delivered to an entire room full of people, but somehow it feels like God intended every word specifically for you?

That was one of those mornings.

What hit me wasn't necessarily a lesson I had never heard before. But this time it landed differently. Maybe it was the season I am in. Maybe it was everything I had been carrying. Whatever the reason, God used that message to remind me of something that I think every leader, business owner, parent, and person walking through a difficult season needs to hear:

Peace doesn't come from having all the answers. Peace comes from knowing the One who does.

No matter what storm you’re facing right now, whether it's your health, your finances, your family, your career, or your business, you have to know where your faith is anchored.

Surrendering everything to Him allows you to stop carrying burdens you were never meant to carry. Being still and trusting God's plan to unfold in His timing creates a peace that the world cannot provide.

The truth is, you don't have to have all the answers.

God does.

And when you trust Him, you can find peace even when you don’t know what comes next.

As leaders, people are constantly looking to us for direction.

Whether that's our families, our friends, our co-workers, our customers, or the people we influence every day, they pay attention to how we respond when things get difficult.

The reality is that we often feel pressure to have every answer, every solution, and every next step figured out.

But great leadership isn't always about having certainty.

Sometimes it's about bringing calm when everyone else is overwhelmed.

Just as panic can spread quickly through a family, a team, or an organization, so can confidence, faith, and calm.

People don't need leaders who pretend everything is perfect. They need leaders who remain steady when things are uncertain. They need leaders who are willing to trust God even when they can't see the entire path ahead.

I am not writing this because I have mastered it.

I'm writing this because I need the reminder just as much as anyone else.

I wake up at 2 a.m. worried about my family and finances just like many people do. Starting a new business has certainly created plenty of opportunities to worry.

But in those moments, I have a choice.

I can allow worry to consume me, or I can turn it over to God in prayer.

I remind myself that His will is greater than my plans.

And most importantly, I remind myself that I was never meant to carry the weight of the world on my shoulders.

In today's corporate world, we are running at a pace that often leaves little room for reflection.

When challenges show up, our default response is usually to work harder, push longer, grind more, and try to force a solution.

Sometimes effort is needed.

But sometimes what we need most is surrender.

The next time you are stressed, overwhelmed, or facing uncertainty, take a moment to slow down.

Pause.

Pray.

Turn it over to God.

You may be surprised to find that the answer you need isn't found in working harder, but in trusting deeper.

As leaders, we have an opportunity to bring that peace into our homes, our businesses, and our communities. Not because we have all the answers, but because we know the One who does.

Because when your faith is in Jesus, you can find peace even in the middle of the storm.

And when you lead with that kind of peace, the people around you will feel it too.
